Yonezawa City is a basin surrounded by The Azuma mountains known to heavy snowfall and The Ouu mountains called as the backbone of Japan.
Our brewery is there, the east corner in the basin.
We are brewing "jizake,"local sakes, with our unconventional idea in this beautiful natural environment.
When brewing, we keep showing the 100% of the individuality of local sake in mind.
GASANRYU
A mountain is something that cannot be moved, a river is something that flows. Some things pass you by in daily life and some things are fixed. It is only when people are disconnected from nature that such thoughts persist. When one is in touch with nature, he realizes that with the ever flowing passage of time even mountains may move, and rivers may stop. It is with this connection to nature that our sake is brewed, and this feeling is embodied in the name Gasanryu.
This "Kuchisui Kariganemon" family coat of arms which is related nationwide with noble family. This coat of arms been handed down from generations of the Shindo clan. It says a family coat of arms history is more than 300 years. Kurouzaemon Shindo which is our founder established a branch family. I ar-range the wild goose which is a bird making progress with happiness for right and left, and it is a crest calling happiness repeating each other's tongues. I have adopted this “Kuchisui Kariganemon “in the crown and wish for the happiness throughout eternity to all who have taken our product.

WINE CHALLENGE
At the world's largest scale wine contest "International wine challenge 2010" held in the UK,
Our Sake "Gasan-ryu GOKUGETU" won in the part of The Junmai / Ginjyo of The Sake section, and also "Ura Gasan-ryu KOKA" won the trophy prize in the part of The Honjozo. These were awarded the prizes 2years in a row.
This “Gasanryu” series is brewed only with the Dewasansan rice from our own rice field. I mix an organic fertilizer with a low pesti-cide to cultivate it. The polished rice is subdivided into 15KG, and an absorbing water rate is managed by a 0.1% unit every colander. The absorbing water rate is the most important point of the sake brewing process.
The mother water used is subsurface water from our company’s own well. This un-fabricated water is of super soft quality. It is limitlessly pure with the origin of the quality of refined mild liquor. The raw rice of our own cultivated fields is used in complete, combined with our subsurface water "the unrefined sake" is snow-white in color, the fragrance is high, and fermentation with a mild taste advances.
As for the articles which we produce, all articles are brewed by manu-al labor. Each product has gone through a number of checks until the ideal sake is brewed. The ideal liquor completed by adequate work & judgment, also has the strong faith that it won’t let the liquor of any other storehouses adulate it.

"Gasanryu / Ura Gasanryu" has won national and international competition prizes. Behind this is the distinctive sense and uncompro-mising attitude of a young brewer who takes steps forward with the progress of each day. It is shipped only to the chosen shops which the sake can be properly stored and the shop must advertise the name, "Gasanryu".

"Gasanryu - Gokugetsu"
The meaning of the word
"Gokugetsu" is "Extreme Moon"
"Gasanryu Gokugetsu" is Junmai Daiginjo the highest quality of our sakes brewed to compete in the National New Sake Contest Awards for brewing. With its high fragrance and fresh taste one can be satisfied while drinking this sake independantly. However it is distinguished enough for the affini-ty with French and white fish dishes.

"Gasanryu - Kisaragi"
The meaning of the word
"Kisaragi" is "Pliant Moon"
"Gasanryu Kisaragi" is the large brewing sake from the finest rice that it is fragrant, and it is gor-geous, and it is clean. This sake was created with the thought of wanting the younger generation to drink sophisticatedly brewed sake from the finest quality of rice. With cool design and liquor pawn, the affinity with bird, sashimi, tofu, spicy food tropical food is preeminence.

"Ura Gasanryu - Fuka"
The meaning of the word
"Fuka" is "Flower of Breeze" "Ura" is "Reverse side"
As for "Ura Gasanryu", the concept of "Gasanryu" is just similar, and it is the series that it brewed without being seized with a standard for a freer idea. This “Fuka” is good Junmai of the fragrant, gorgeous unity, but "Fuka" is surpass normal Daiginjo, affinity with plain Chinese food and meat dishes is best.

The meaning of the word
"Koka" is "Fragrant Flower" "Ura" is "Reverse side"
As for "Ura Gasanryu", the concept of "Gasanryu" is similar, and it is a series that is brewed without being seized with a standard for a freer idea. With a quality liquor that is able to be drank willingly which this "Koka" fragrance is highly fresh. It is quality of superior liquor in a particular Italian and affinity and one with Japanese food, of course. Even Honjozo doesn’t take over Daiginjo.
